ADNOC Logistics and Services (ADNOC L&S), a global frontrunner in energy maritime logistics and a key subsidiary of the ADNOC Group, has officially taken delivery of its second newbuild liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, named “Al Rahba.” The vessel was handed over from Jiangnan Shipyard in China, marking a significant expansion of ADNOC L&S’s specialized fleet, reports Aletihad.
Key Milestone
ADNOC Logistics & Services (ADNOC L&S) has reached a significant milestone in its fleet expansion strategy with the delivery of the “Al Rahba,” its second state-of-the-art Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrier. This vessel is part of a larger program that commenced in 2022 with contracts awarded to Jiangnan Shipyard for the construction of six advanced LNG carriers.
The acquisition of “Al Rahba” is a strategic move to bolster ADNOC L&S’s shipping capabilities, responding to the escalating global demand for cleaner energy solutions. The “Al Rahba” boasts a substantial capacity of 175,000 cubic meters and is equipped with cutting-edge energy-efficient technologies. Notably, it features two new-generation LNG dual-fuel main engines designed to reduce methane emissions by up to 50% compared to older vessels, aligning with ADNOC’s broader commitment to environmental sustainability and operational excellence. The first vessel in this series, “Al Shelila,” was delivered in November 2024, with the remaining four expected by the end of 2026.
ADNOC L&S operates through three primary business units: Integrated Logistics, Shipping, and Services, delivering energy products and maritime solutions to over 100 customers across more than 50 countries. The company’s portfolio includes wholly-owned subsidiary Zakher Marine International Holdings, an Abu Dhabi-based owner and operator of offshore support vessels. Furthermore, ADNOC L&S holds an 80% stake in Navig8, a global ship owner and commercial pools operator that also provides bunkering and ship management solutions.
