Akademi Laut Malaysia (ALAM), part of the MISC Group, has inaugurated its Maritime Experiential Learning Centre — a high-tech simulator training facility designed to enhance maritime education and prepare seafarers for real-world challenges.
A Major Leap in Immersive Maritime Training
The Centre, developed in partnership with Wärtsilä, features cloud-enabled, real-world simulation systems. These advanced simulators provide trainees with an immersive experience that closely mirrors actual vessel operations, helping to build critical skills for modern maritime careers.
This development also marks ALAM’s recognition as the first Wärtsilä MASTER Centre in the Asia Pacific — a designation highlighting its excellence in maritime simulation and R&D.
Strengthening Malaysia’s Role in Global Maritime Education
The launch was officiated by IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez during his first visit to Malaysia, aligning with Malaysia Maritime Week 2025. It underscores ALAM’s commitment to global standards and its strategic role in shaping next-gen maritime professionals.
According to MISC, the integration of smart technologies and global partnerships positions ALAM as a regional leader ready to meet the evolving needs of the maritime industry.
