Amendments to 2014 Specification for Shipboard Incinerators

Witherbys draws the attention of the parties concerned to the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) at its 79th session has adopted amendments to the 2014 Standard specification for shipboard incinerators by resolution MEPC.368(79).

On 16 December 2022, the IMO adopted resolution MEPC.368(79) to amend the 2014 Standard specification for shipboard incinerators (resolution MEPC.244(66)) (the Specification) at the 79th session of MEPC. The amendment deletes the entire annex 2 to the Specification, which contains the fire protection requirements for incinerators and waste stowage spaces.

Details of the related resolutions and specification can be found on the website of Marine Department. Shipowners, ship managers, ship operators, masters, classification societies and shipbuilders of Hong Kong registered ships are advised to note the information and act accordingly.
