It has worked with AMSA’s search and rescue functions through her leadership roles at the Australian Border Force, reports SAFETY4SEA.

Dale’s Experience in the Maritime Sector

Dale has served in various leadership positions within the Australian Border Force, most recently as the Deputy Commissioner for Strategy and capability.

Her experience is expected to benefit AMSA in continuing its essential roles in marine safety and search and rescue operations.

Leadership Endorsement by Hon Catherine King MP

The Hon Catherine King MP expressed her support for Dale’s appointment. She said, “I welcome Ms Dale to the role, where her leadership will help us continue to enhance the critical role AMSA plays in protecting our marine environment, supporting safe navigation and marine safety, as well as providing a national search and rescue service.”

“I look forward to working with Ms Dale and the broader leadership team at AMSA as they continue to ensure a safe and environmentally friendly maritime sector in Australia.”

Tribute to Mick Kinley’s Decade of Leadership

Kaylene Dale succeeds Mick Kinley, who served as AMSA’s CEO for the past decade. Kinley’s leadership fostered a strong, collaborative, and forward-thinking culture at AMSA. His tenure is marked by major accomplishments.

It includes navigating the challenges of the global pandemic and implementing the national system for domestic commercial vessel regulation.

Kinley’s Legacy in Maritime Safety

Kinley’s contributions to maritime safety included overseeing AMSA’s delivery of Australia’s single regulatory framework for domestic commercial vessels within its exclusive economic zone. His commitment to seafarers’ welfare and maritime safety has left a lasting impact, which AMSA acknowledges will resonate for years to come.

“I thank Mr Kinley for his significant service as CEO over the last decade, where he oversaw several achievements in Australian maritime safety. This included navigating the maritime safety challenges presented by the global pandemic, and before that, AMSA’s delivery of the national system – Australia’s single regulatory framework for the certification, construction, equipment, design, and operation of domestic commercial vessels inside our exclusive economic zone”, commented Kaylene Dale.
