The general cargo ships were anchored off Istanbul when the strong winds and swell dragged the anchor of a cargo ship and the tides laid her over the other cargo ship.
Both the vessels incurred slight damages – one cargo ship suffered with dents and broken layers while the other cargo ship suffered broken railings and small breach above the waterline. But both remained afloat.
The vessels are under inspection and repairs, but the damages did not affect its seaworthiness. The authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. There were no reports of casualties or pollution.
