When it comes to pushing for change, and standing up for what is right, APM Terminals is forthright in taking the lead. That is why our commitment to net zero is the most progressive in the industry to get to net zero by 2040, as reported by Apm Terminals.
- APM Terminals pioneers Middle East’s first electrified terminal, setting the stage for global industry transformation.
- Experts challenge industry norms, emphasizing the inevitability of electrified terminals with declining technology costs.
- APM Terminals’ progressive commitment to net zero by 2040 drives innovation, electrification, and sustainable practices worldwide.
Electric Terminal Equipment Adoption
In a significant stride towards electrification, APM Terminals celebrated the introduction of cutting-edge electric terminal equipment this week as part of its ongoing electrification rollout. The Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) in Jordan proudly welcomed its inaugural shipment of electric Reach Stackers and Empty Handlers, marking a historic milestone as the first terminal in the Middle East to embrace electrified terminal equipment. This momentous move solidifies APM Terminals’ commitment to pioneering sustainable practices within the region.
Bold Perspective on Industry Evolution and Electrification
Rather than highlighting their remarkable achievements in decarbonizing APM Terminals through electrification initiatives, innovative machinery deployments, forward-thinking colleague training programs, and the transition to battery packs, APM Terminals’ representatives used their recent speaking engagements to challenge conventional industry perspectives. At the Greenport Congress in Lisbon and the Green Non-Road Mobile Machinery Forum in Amsterdam, they pointed out a significant lag in the terminal industry’s evolution compared to the transformation witnessed in the car sector two decades ago.
Expert Duo Strengthening Electrification
An expert in electric, hybrid and fuel-cell vehicle development, dedicated to creating zero emission mobility ecosystems, Umut Dogan had executed electrification projects for cars, trucks, and buses on behalf of global vehicle manufacturers before joining APM Terminals four months ago. His career to date spans 13 years including multinational projects directly related to major suppliers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
