Advancing Yucatán’s Logistics Development

The project aims to position Puerto Progreso at the forefront of logistical development in Yucatán and southeastern Mexico. By raising operational standards and improving maritime and logistical connectivity, the initiative is set to create employment opportunities, stimulate economic activity, and contribute to the region’s shared prosperity.

Keith Svendsen, CEO of APM Terminals, described the project as a pivotal step in modernising infrastructure and strengthening Mexico’s global trade position. He highlighted the introduction of smarter terminal design, new equipment, and progress in decarbonisation as key benefits. He also emphasised the company’s focus on safety, service quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement through Lean principles, reaffirming APM Terminals’ long-term commitment to Mexico and its partners. Collaboration with Local Authorities

To ensure alignment with regional goals, APM Terminals signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the state government of Yucatán. This agreement will facilitate knowledge sharing and the application of global best practices in container terminal management, driving industrial growth and supporting the region’s long-term development.

Commitment to Southeastern Mexico

With this 19-year investment plan, APM Terminals reaffirms its dedication to strengthening Puerto Progreso’s role in regional trade and logistics. The initiative consolidates the company’s presence in southeastern Mexico, supporting both the local economy and Mexico’s broader integration into global commerce.
