  • AtoB@C Shipping christened its second hybrid vessel, Stellamar, in Ystad.
  • Stellamar reduces CO2 emissions by up to 50% with innovative features.
  • The fleet expansion continues with more vessels like Ecomar and Aquamar.

On 30 August, AtoB@C Shipping celebrated the christening of its second plug-in hybrid vessel, Stellamar, in its hometown of Ystad. This marked a historic moment for the company, as it was the first time a vessel was named in Ystad, reports AtoB@C Shipping.

Environmental Impact and Innovation

The ceremony had a personal touch with Stella Rowland and Stella Passinen, daughters of key figures in AtoB@C Shipping and Metsä Group, performing the christening.

Stellamar is a cutting-edge vessel designed to be more environmentally friendly, producing up to 50% less CO2 emissions than its predecessors. This is achieved through innovative features like shore power connectivity, significant battery installations, and an enhanced cargo intake. These improvements not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also ensure quieter and cleaner operations in port.

Versatile Cargo Capabilities

The Stellamar is designed to carry a diverse range of bulk and breakbulk products, including steel, forest products, fertilizers, and project cargoes. Its long, unobstructed deck allows for the loading of more deck cargo and longer project cargoes compared to other vessels in the fleet.

The christening of Stellamar is part of AtoB@C Shipping’s ongoing fleet expansion. The third vessel in the series, Ecomar, is on its way from India to Europe, while the fourth vessel, Aquamar, is nearing completion.

The production of the tenth vessel, Astramar, began in July with a steel-cutting ceremony.
