Auramarine To Supply Methanol Fuel Systems For Terntank’s Next-Generation

10

Auramarine has been selected by Terntank Rederi A/S to supply its newly developed methanol fuel supply systems for three 15,000 DWT Hybrid Solution Plus tankers.

These vessels, currently under construction at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Yangzhou), represent a significant step in sustainable shipping and are scheduled for delivery starting March 2025.

Methanol Systems to Drive Decarbonisation

Each ship will be equipped with Auramarine’s comprehensive methanol fuel supply solution, including the methanol supply unit (LFSS), bunker and transfer systems, control and monitoring systems, and advanced safety systems. The integration of methanol-powered engines, wind-assisted propulsion, hybrid batteries, and shore power capability will enable Terntank to significantly lower emissions.

According to Claes Möller, CEO of Tärntank Ship Management, Auramarine’s expertise is critical in ensuring these vessels achieve their full decarbonisation potential.

A Strategic Milestone for Auramarine

For Auramarine, this order marks a major milestone in its commitment to enabling the maritime industry’s energy transition. John Bergman, CEO of Auramarine, highlighted that methanol is one of the most viable future fuels currently available and emphasised the importance of building the right bunkering and onboard operational infrastructure to accelerate adoption.

This project also aligns with Auramarine’s ambitious five-year growth strategy to be a leading partner in low and zero-carbon marine fuels, with increasing interest from shipowners, OEMs, and shipyards in methanol-ready solutions.

The collaboration between Terntank and Auramarine underscores the momentum toward sustainable and future-ready shipping solutions. By combining advanced methanol fuel systems with hybrid and renewable technologies, these vessels set a strong precedent for decarbonisation in the maritime industry while reinforcing Auramarine’s leadership role in innovative fuel supply systems.
