Azane Fuel Solutions and Amogy Inc. have signed an MoU to explore incorporating Amogy’s ammonia-to-power system into Azane’s ammonia bunker vessel design, reports Azane.
Goal
The collaboration aims to create a zero-emissions power system for Azane’s ammonia bunker vessels to decarbonize large seagoing vessels and the deep-sea segment of the shipping industry.
Technology Integration
Azane has developed an ammonia fuel bunker vessel concept and seeks a carbon-free propulsion system. Amogy’s ammonia-to-power solution is intended to provide zero-emission propulsion without compromising safety and operational requirements.
Feasibility Exploration
The partnership will assess the compatibility of their technologies and the commercial potential of combining these solutions. Subsequent pilot projects are planned to mature the bunker vessel with ammonia-to-power solutions for commercial applications.
Strategic Intentions
Azane aims to offer ammonia bunker vessels globally to ports like Hamburg, Rotterdam, Antwerp, and Singapore to facilitate clean ammonia delivery to ships.
Companies Background
Azane Fuel Solutions focuses on developing innovative technologies for ammonia bunkering terminals and fuel handling systems. Amogy aims to decarbonize various sectors, including shipping, through ammonia-based, emission-free power solutions.
Industry Impact
This collaboration intends to demonstrate ammonia as a carbon-free, safe, and reliable fuel for the shipping industry. Amogy’s technology has already been successfully demonstrated in drones, tractors, semi-trucks, and is being adapted for a tugboat.
