The Baltic Exchange has officially become an Associate Member of the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA), reinforcing its commitment to engaging with Asia’s maritime community and supporting the development of the shipping sector.
Strengthening Regional Engagement
Baltic Exchange CEO Mark Jackson attended the SSA’s annual Lunar New Year Cocktail event in Singapore, where he received the membership certificate on behalf of the organization. The event, a key fixture in Singapore’s maritime calendar, was attended by over 600 industry professionals. During the celebration, Mark also participated in the traditional Lo Hei ceremony, symbolizing good fortune and prosperity for the coming year.
Enhancing Industry Collaboration
Jin Yu Cheong, Head of Baltic Exchange Asia, commented, “Joining the Singapore Shipping Association is a significant step for the Baltic Exchange as we continue to engage with the maritime community in Asia. Singapore is a critical hub for global shipping, and our membership will help us strengthen ties with local industry leaders, support the development of the maritime sector, and contribute to important industry discussions.”
A Strategic Move in a Leading Maritime Hub
For over 40 years, the SSA has been the largest body representing shipping interests in Singapore, advocating on key maritime issues, promoting best practices, and fostering industry collaboration. Its diverse membership includes shipowners, operators, brokers, and maritime service providers—many of whom are also members of the Baltic Exchange.
As an Associate Member, the Baltic Exchange is committed to supporting SSA initiatives, working closely with industry stakeholders, and contributing to Singapore’s continued growth as a global maritime center.
