Barge Stuck in Bay, Ice Breaking Vessel on its Way to Help

On January 3, a tug barge reportedly got stuck on ice in the bay while it was on its way to winter work towards the Great Lakes.

What happened?

The tug barge ‘Dorothy Ann-Pathfinder’ reportedly got stuck on ice in the bay near Perry Monument while on its way in for winter repair work.

The tug barge was among the several vessel that were expected to arrive at Donjon Shipbuilding and Repair this month.

Ice breaking to start soon:

The vessel got stuck ice and ice breaking operations are expected to start soon so as to allow ships to pass through. Until then several vessels have been instructed to be berthed at Dobbins Landing.

The tug barge belongs to Interlake Steamship Company and travels the Great Lakes from March to January every year.
