9

BlastOne International has announced a strategic partnership with Seaspan Shipyards to develop an advanced blast and paint facility as part of Canada’s ongoing National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS). The project marks a significant milestone in Seaspan’s infrastructure investment efforts to strengthen domestic shipbuilding capacity and deliver next-generation vessels for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy.

Advanced Facility Design for Efficiency and Sustainability

Under this collaboration, BlastOne will retrofit an existing building into a two-bay blast and paint hall designed to elevate efficiency, sustainability, and production capacity. The new facility will feature BlastOne’s patented technology renowned for its industry-leading productivity, environmental performance, and cost savings.

The system will incorporate recyclable abrasive media and advanced airflow and filtration controls, minimizing environmental impact while ensuring safety and quality standards. This setup will enable Seaspan to process large-scale ship components more effectively, achieving tighter quality control, faster turnaround, and lower operating costs.

Strengthening Canada’s Shipbuilding Capabilities

The facility will play a vital role in supporting the construction of the Canadian Coast Guard’s Polar Icebreaker, one of the most important vessels under the National Shipbuilding Strategy. By integrating BlastOne’s innovative technology, Seaspan enhances its capability to deliver complex, high-quality vessels efficiently.

The collaboration also aligns with Canada’s broader objectives of boosting local shipbuilding expertise, sustaining long-term employment, and ensuring the country’s maritime self-reliance. The formal contract signing, attended by Seaspan’s executive leadership, underscores the shared commitment of both partners to advancing Canadian shipbuilding with modern, sustainable infrastructure.

The partnership between BlastOne International and Seaspan Shipyards represents a forward-looking step in Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy. By combining technological innovation with strategic investment, the project will enhance production efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and strengthen Canada’s position as a leader in sustainable maritime manufacturing.
