Bottom Touch Following Engine Blackout

On May 26, 2017, at 1.28 p.m. the pilot of the “Grande Ellade” reported an engine blackout during the departure from Esbjerg.

What happened?

The ship reportedly suffered an engine blockout. As a result the ship had a bottom touch directly off the port.

Tugs were called to pull it off the sandbar again, and the ship had to return to port for surveys.

Released after inspection:

The vehicles carrier was released by the Danish Maritime Authority, it left the port again on May 28 around 9 p.m. and headed to Wallhamn, Sweden, where it arrived on May 29 at 2.30 p.m.
