Boxship Collided With Ferry, Containers Lost?

823

Container ship collided with ferry at around 0200 UTC Mar 12 in Alboran sea some 53 nm SE of Malaga, Spain, reports Maritime Bulletin.

Damages reported

Containership was en route from Panama to Italy via Tanger and Algeciras, and the ferry was en route from Malaga to Melilla, Spain territory, Morocco.

The ferry sustained damages in fore section portside above waterline, and continued voyage, arriving at Melilla almost on schedule.

No information on boxship damages, the ship interrupted voyage and turned back. At 1200 UTC she was sailing east at reduced speed, probably waiting for preliminary investigation results. No injures reported both on container ship and ferry.

There was probably containers loss, looks like one container from the boxship hooked on NAPOLES bridge structure.
