The Port has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 70 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) in cargo volume. This achievement occurred earlier in the current fiscal year compared to the previous year, when the 70 MMT mark was reached on October 14, 2023. This earlier achievement signifies the port’s rapid growth and improved efficiency.

The port authority attributed this success to the collaborative efforts and support of all port users and stakeholders. They also acknowledged the dedication of port officials, employees, workers, and trade unions.

The port authority also noted that a variety of cargo contributed to this impressive growth in cumulative tonnage. The port experienced increased tonnage in several import and export categories.

Imports: Notable increases were seen in phosphoric acid, chemicals, MOP (finished fertilizers), rock phosphate, iron scrap, food grains, iron ore, machinery, sugar, timber, coking coal, and crude oil.

Exports: The port recorded an uptick in the handling of POL (petroleum, oil, and lubricants), edible oil, chemicals, food grains, bentonite, salt, oil extractions, silica sand, and sesame seeds.

Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, Chairman of the DPA, expressed his congratulations to all port users, stakeholders, trade unions, port officials, employees, and workers for their contributions in achieving this milestone. He emphasized that their collaboration and unwavering support have been crucial to the port’s success.
