BSRC Introduces Thailand’s First B24 Marine Biofuel Shipment

BSRC Delivers First B24 Marine Biofuel

On 24 February 2025, Mr. Chaiwat Kovavisarach, Group Chief Executive Officer and President of Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, along with Mrs. Gloyta Nathalang, Senior Executive Vice President of Sustainability Management and Corporate Communications of Bangchak Corporation Plc., Mr. Anuwat Rungruangrattanagul, Director, Acting Chief Executive Officer, and Senior Executive Vice President of Refinery & Operations of Bangchak Sriracha Public Company Limited (BSRC) and Mr. Warakorn Kosolpisitkul, Senior Executive Vice President, Marketing Business of BSRC, and Bangchak Group executives, joined Mr. Koyama Kenji, Executive Officer of NYK Trading Corporation (Japan) and Mr. Takanori Kokubu, Senior Sales Manager of NYK Trading Corporation (Japan), in witnessing the delivery of the first load of B24 Marine Biofuel. A total of 470 metric tons (MT), produced at Bangchak Sriracha Refinery, was supplied to the IRIS LEADER (NYK LINE) at Laem Chabang Port, Sriracha, Chonburi.

BSRC has been certified under the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC EU) standard for producing B24 Marine Biofuel and officially began supplying sustainable marine biofuels to customers. This milestone reinforces BSRC’s position as a global leader in sustainable marine biofuel. The new product has already attracted strong interest from shipping companies, particularly those from Japan.

B24 Marine Biofuel consists of 24% UCOME (Used Cooking Oil Methyl Ester) blended with 0.5%S Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil (VLSFO). It is a low-emission biofuel that can directly replace fossil fuels without requiring ship engines or fueling infrastructure modifications. This innovation offers a practical and immediate solution for reducing carbon emissions in the maritime industry.
