Bulk Carrier Collided with German Heavy Lift Ship in Black Sea

2511

On October 25, a bulk carrier reportedly collided with a heavy lift ship since both ships were underway when the incident occurred.

What happened?

The Bulk carrier ‘Maraki K’ collided with heavy lift ship ‘Maria’ on Constanta outer anchorage. Both the vessels were reported to be under way at the time of collision, maneuvering to anchor when the incident occurred.

During the incident, both the vessels did not sustain any severe damages and no leaks were reported.

Bulk carrier suspected to be adrift:

After the incident, the bulk carrier proceeded towards its destination while the heavy lift vessel was anchored at Constanta Anchorage. But the movements of bulk carrier ‘Maraki K’ were noticed to be strange as she left anchorage at some 7 knots speed, sailed further to sea and was moving in southern direction at some 3-4 knots speed, under way or exhibiting signs of drifting.
