The bulk carrier “Ince Inebolu” was hit by Saudi Arabian missiles on May 10, 2018.
What happened?
In the night of May 10, 2018, the “Ince Inebolu” was fired upon or hit by missiles of Saudi Arabian forces with 49770 tons of wheat on board. The vessel was about 70 miles off Saleef Port, north of the port of Hodeidah in the Red Sea, awaiting berth at an anchorage.
Structural Damages
It suffered serious structural damages, holes and dents to the port side shell plating above the waterline and to the main deck.
Authorized and Towed
The ship had been authorized by UN Verification and Inspection Mechanism for Yemen (UNVIM) office in Djibouti, after the required inspection. The wheat originated from Russia and was loaded in Novorossiysk. On May 11 the bulk carrier was towed to Jizan.
