Bulk Carrier Detained Over Safety Issues in Tacoma

1967

bahamas.jpgOn September 24, the Puget Sound United States Coast Guard (USCG) boarded the ships at the Port of Tacoma for routine scrutiny exams.  This led to the finding of multiple ships with deficiencies.  One among them was the Bahamian-flagged 81,700 dwt bulk carrier, in which the fire safety equipment did not meet IMO and USCG safety standards.

The vessel’s self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBAs) pressurization was improper.  This malfunction could prevent the crew from responding to a fire aboard the vessel.  Till the deficiencies are resolved the bulk carrier will be detained at the Port of Tacoma.
