What happened?
Bulk carrier SANTORINI started to drift in Bosphorus in Beykoz area, Istanbul, after suffering engine failure at around 0000 LT Oct 14. She was transiting Bosphorus in the southern direction.
Anchor dropped
Judging from available visuals, the bulk carrier had dropped anchor in emergency, to avoid a serious accident.
Tug support
Tugs responded and the ship was taken under control and completed transit under tow. She was anchored at Yenikapi anchorage, Istanbul, Marmara sea, at around 0520 LT.
Bulk carrier is en route from Burgas Bulgaria to Cadiz Spain.
