Bulk Carrier Grounded Due To Passing Typhoon

According to recent news report by Nikolay Torkin for the Maritime Bulletin, a bulk carrier GIA BAO 268 was beached by passing typhoon at night Nov 9 at Dung Quat port, Quang Ngai Province, central Vietnam.

Bulk carrier beached 

A bulk carrier was beached by passing typhoon at Dung Quat Port, Quang Ngai Province, Central Vietnam.  The incident took place at night November 9, 2020.

Rescue operations

The ship was anchored in port waters after offloading cargo of limestone, she was in ballast with high freeboard, and her anchor dragged in stormy wind and sea, battering the area.

9 crew are safe. There’s no salvage yet, though port authorities demand from owner to provide salvage.
