Bulk carrier STAR CENTAURUS ran aground in the morning Jun 22 in front of Limenes, southern Crete, Greece, while en route from Morocco to Suez. She was loaded with 57,000 tons of fertilizers.
Voyage interrupted
The ship’s voyage was interrupted and headed for Crete on Jun 21 evening. The reason remains unknown.
Carrier refloated
She was refloated with the help of a tug, and anchored at Limenes Bay. No damages reported. As of 0230 UTC Jun 23, the ship was still at anchor.
