Bulk Carrier Runs Aground on its Entry into Port

The Capesize bulk carrier named Robusto ran aground on its entry to Port of Alexandria, Egypt.  The vessel was en route from Narvik in Norway with a cargo of iron ore, but on its entry into the port, suffered mechanical failure.

The bulk carrier struck a sandbar and the crew was unable to refloat the ship on their own. The local authorities were notified and were dispatched to the scene if the accident to rescue the ship and its crew.

No injuries or water pollution was reported and the ship was docked in the Port of Alexandria for further inspection for any damages and repairs.  

The traffic at the port was not affected, as the bulk carrier was stuck outside the fairway.
