Global bunker supplier Bunker One has successfully bunkered Polish shipping company Polsteam’s bulk carrier with a biofuel blend off Gothenberg, says an article published on Engine.
Unspecified amount of biofuel
The bulk carrier, MV Podlasie, was bunkered with an unspecified amount of biofuel blend via ship-to-ship (STS) transfer off Gothenberg. The operation marked the bulk carrier’s “first-ever biofuel delivery.”
The biofuel stem was delivered by bunkering vessel, MT Nore, which is under a long-time charter with Bunker One.
Oil-based bunker fuels
However, Bunker One has not shared much insight into the nature of the biofuel or the share of it blended into oil-based bunker fuels. B20-30 biofuel blends of 20-30% biofuel to 70-80% VLSFO/LSMGO-HSFO are typical, but blends can vary all the way from B5-100.
“Bunker One has a strong foothold in Scandinavia, and we are ready to meet our customer’s requests for alternative fuels,” the company said.
Last month, Bunker One delivered a B30 stem to a cruise ship operated by German cruise firm TUI Cruises in Denmark’s Port of Aarhus.
