A Singapore-based bunker barge operator has been fined $81,000 after it was found operating without a licence.

What happened?

On January 17, a Singapore-based bunker operator named New Ocean Maritime Pte Ltd was reportedly fined $81,000 for providing services without a licence.

The operator was providing services from January 3, 2015 to March 28, 2015 without a valid licence.

The company was also found guilty of using the licence of a bunker craft operator named Seaquest Tanker, another Singapore-based bunker services provider, whose permit was revoked on April 26, 2016, for the company’s involvement with New Ocean Maritime. Investigations showed that its actions had breached the terms and conditions of the licence.

The Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) said, “MPA adopts a zero tolerance approach towards bunkering malpractices and will not hesitate to take action against any unlicensed entity operating in the port of Singapore”.
