Bunker Tanker Held for Illegal Oil Siphoning Resumes Operations

A Singapore-registered bunker tanker arrested due to its participation in an alleged illegal marine gas oil (MGO) siphoning operation has resumed normal operations, reports Manifold Times.

Bunkering operations resume

Alex Ow Yong, Fleet Agency Director, Agency Division of Singapore-based ship management firm Iships Mgmt Pte Ltd. confirmed, “We have received clearance from the Police Coast Guard for Marmoris (SB802G) to resume bunkering operations.”

Crew arrested

Mr. Ow noted the bunker tanker’s Indonesian crew of five was caught by the Police Coast Guard on Sunday morning at around 0240 hours (local time) for allegedly siphoning MGO off the vessel at the sea area off Bedok.

The five suspects have been produced at the State Courts of Singapore and investigations are still ongoing.

The Marmoris is a 2012-built 2,281 dwt bunkering tanker operating at the port of Singapore.
