BW LPG has taken delivery of the final very large gas carrier (VLGC) that it has acquired from Avance Gas as part of a $1 billion, 12-vessel deal that the Singapore-headquartered operated announced in August.
The BW Avior was delivered on New Year’s Eve (31 December).
The 12 vessels BW LPG has acquired from Avance Gas include: four 91,000 cubic metre (cbm) dual-fuel VLGCs, of which two are 2022-built and two are 2023-built; and eight 2015-built 83,000 cbm VLGCs, of which six are scrubber-fitted.
BW LPG now owns and operates a total of 53 VLGCs, 22 of which are LPG dual-fuel.
BW LPG said that the expansion of its fleet ‘solidifies [its] position as the world’s largest owner and operator of VLGC, and that for the dual-fuel powered VLGCs’.
