After being charged with drunk driving, the captain of a Cypriot cargo ship was arrested in Denmark, says an article published in Safety4Sea.

Master assessed

After his ship grounded outside of Frederiksvaerk on May 24, the anonymous seafarer was rescued onshore.

The Danish navy was called into action after North Zealand Police received a report of the event in the evening.

According to the police report, the master was assessed as being under the influence of alcohol, according to Naval Deputy Commander Mikael Olesen.

Immediately harmed

He was detained and charged with drink-driving as a result, and he was sent to the hospital for blood testing to discover his exact blood alcohol level.

The ship, on the other hand, was not immediately harmed by the accident and is currently being towed.

Furthermore, no pollution was detected, despite the fact that the ship ran aground in 2.2 metres of water after failing to follow the fairway on its way out of the port.
