Captain & Crew Arrested for Illegal Entry

The Minjur police have arrested three people including the captain of a Korean ship and its second engineer from Indonesia after the engineer stepped out of the Kamarajar port without obtaining permission from the immigration officials following a fight among the two, reports Times of India.

Crew get treated without immigration permission

The accused were identified as Lee Gwangmin of Korea, captain of MT Asian Grace ship that brought the chemical tanker at Kamarajar Port, the ship’s second engineer Muhammed Zaennel Arifin of Indonesia and the ship’s agent Balasubramaniyan.

Police said on September 3 following a fight on the ship, Arifin moved out of port and was treated for the injuries at a private hospital in Manali without the permission of immigrant officials at the port.

However, when he returned to the port around 10am, he was stopped by the CSIF personnel who later alerted the immigration officials.

Crew remanded

A case was registered under the Foreigners’ Act and both Arifin and Gwangmin were arrested. Balasubramaniyan, of Kodungaiyur, of Samuthra Marine Services Pvt Ltd, who was assigned as an agent to the ship, was also arrested as he accompanied Arifin to the hospital.

All three were remanded in judicial custody. The three will be taken into custody to inquire about the fight.
