Captain Found Drunk at Helm

On December 1, a ship captain was reportedly found drunk at the helm of the vessel when it arrived at anchorage.

What happened?

The pilot of the vessel ‘Katrin’ reportedly alerted that the captain of the vessel was drunk at helm of the vessel when it arrived in Holtenau anchorage.

Based on the pilot’s alert, the water police boarded the vessel and discovered that the captain was drunk. During the breathalyzer test the alcohol level was found to be 3.29 per thousand.

Captain fined:

A blood sample from the captain was taken for further tests and was imposed a fine of 2,000 euros for breaching the safety of the vessel.

The vessel was allowed to set sail towards its journey from Sundsvall to New Ross after the captain paid the fine.
