A general cargo vessel crashed with the Mondragon-Donzère canal’s bridge in France’s Rhone, which claimed the life of the the captain of the Malta-flagged vessel, reports Maritime Bulletin.
What happened?
The tragic incident occurred in the evening of 2nd October, which completely destroyed the 1,613 DWT freighter’s bridge. The captain was reportedly along in the vessel’s bridge, when the accident occurred.
Investigation
The vessel is currently berthed along the embankment ever since the accident, while the Automatic Identification System (AIS) of the 1,318 GT vessel went off.
The incident is currently being investigated by the concerned authorities.
