The Malta flagged cargo vessel the “Kea Trader” is currently facing a bad weather and rough sea conditions in the reef Durand which resulted in cargo loss from the container, the report says.
What happened?
Bad weather conditions are prevailing in the Durand Reef which has caught the container ship off guard. The rough sea continues to degrade the vessel. The front of the hold 2 has opened, and the 23 containers that were inside were washed away and they sank.
Recovering the debris
The Shanghai Salvage Company and Ardent teams have been working together to assess the condition of the vessel. Search units to recover any debris remained active all week. No floating debris has been found at this stage.
