A general cargo ship has reportedly suffered from a shift of cargo in the English Channel.
What happened?
On February 10, a general cargo ship Wilson Hobro suffered cargo shift in English Canal several nautical miles northwest off Brest, France.
The vessel was en route from Rotterdam to Chalkis in Greece, but on the unfortunate day the cargo of aluminium bullion bars shifted due to rough weather and heavy seas. The vessel suffered listing to starboard and subsequently the crew was pushed to reduce the speed and alter the course to Brest.
The general cargo ship successfully docked at eastern wharf of the Brest Port, where the shift will be fixed by relocating the aluminium bullion bars.
Investigation underway:
The local authorities ordered special survey and inspection of the vessel once docked at the port of Brest. Fortunately no one was injured during the incident and no pollution to the environment was reported.
