A general cargo ship ran onto a dam entering Sunda Kelapa Harbor, North Jakarta, at around midday Jan 8, pushed by a gust of strong wind, reports Maritime bulletin.
What happened?
The ship grounded on dam portside, hull was breached, in the afternoon due to water ingress the ship started to list.
On Jan 9 list increased to some 45 degrees, but 19 crew remain on board, trying to salvage the ship by pumping out water, deploying extra pumps, which were delivered on board, and planning to wield the breach.
Understood as of evening Jan salvage still was on, with extra resources provided by authorities.
