Cargo Ship Collided With Car Carrier Off Germany

The reports state that the vessels were passing in opposite directions on Ems river when the car carrier experienced a technical failure of the steering gear and collided with the cargo ship.  Fortunately, both the vessels were at a minimal speed and incurred only slight damages. Hence, both the vessels remained afloat.

Both the vessels were docked in port of Emden for inspection and repairs.  The investigation for the root cause of the incident is underway.  Also, there were no reports of injuries or pollution.
