The Coast Guard is investigating a collision involving a large cargo ship last night in Port Aransas.
The vessel was heading out into the Gulf when it lost propulsion so the crew dropped anchor to try and keep it in place.
Unfortunately, the ship kept going and crashed into the dock at the U.T. Marine Science Institute. No on was injured and there was no damage to the ship. The Coast Guard tells us that there was no pollution, the ship was empty at the time of the accident.
Tugboats moved the ship out into the Gulf about two hours later.
A spokesman for the UT Marine Science Institute says the pier appears to be intact but a detailed assessment is being done to make sure the structure is sound.
