Cargo Ship Sank in Yellow Sea, 7 Missing

On May 22, a cargo ship sank in the yellow sea off Weihai, Shandong Province, China and seven people were reported missing.

What happened?

The cargo ship ‘Long Hui Da’ was moving downstream to Sea from the Yangtze estuary when it started to sink off Weihai.

There were eleven crew members onboard the vessel when it went down, out of which four people were saved while seven were reported missing.

Search and rescue on

A search and rescue mission with deployment of ships, helicopters and all ships present in the vicinity have been initiated to search for the missing crew members.

The reason for the vessel sinking is unknown and an investigation has been initiated to look into the sinking incident.
