General cargo ship sank after her hull was breached when she struck rocks, reports Maritime Bulletin.

What happened?

General cargo ship reportedly sank in Sea of Crete east of Peloponnese peninsula, Greece, early in the morning Aug 28.

The ship was en route from Ukraine to Tunisia with 7,000 tons of wheat on board.

Rescue operations

Large-scale SAR was launched, all 16 Syrian crew said to be rescued, safe.

Adrift after collision

Judging from ships positions and tracks in area, it seems that the ship sank after collision.

She probably collided with another general cargo ship, which is, as of 0620 UTC Aug 28, adrift north of alleged collision site.
