Two cargo ships collided head-on in the Kiel Canal in Audorf area, near Rendsburg, on morning Nov 7, reports Maritime Bulletin.
What happened?
Two general cargo ships operated by the same Latvian company RIX SHIPMANAGEMENT, collided head-on in the Kiel canal.
According to ship tracks, both the ships were transiting the canal in northern directions.
Damages reported
Both ships sustained severe damages.
The general cargo ship RIX STAR ran onto embankment after collision. Later she was taken off by tugs.
According to reports, the second ship RIX PARTNER suffered hull breach in the midship ballast tanks area.

As of 1630 UTC Nov 7, both ships were berthed in the Kiel Canal, one in Rendsburg, another one further off.
