In 2023, London-based tech startup Carnot was awarded £2.3M (US$2.8M) from a consortium to develop a zero-emissions 50-kW hydrogen auxiliary engine demonstrator and partner with Carisbrooke Shipping for deployment.

Revolutionize Shipping Industry

The innovative Carnot project has the potential to revolutionize the shipping industry as it strives towards becoming more environmentally friendly.  This is an exciting development in the world of green technology and you can recognize this achievement by nominating Carnot for the Startup of the Year Award.

Reasons Behind

Here are some reasons why:

  • Carnot’s innovative use of hydrogen power promises zero emissions while providing significant energy savings compared with traditional fuel sources.
  • The partnership between Carnot and Carisbrooke Shipping provides an opportunity to deploy this revolutionary technology on a large scale.
  • This project will have positive environmental implications and economic benefits such as job creation and increased revenue opportunities.
  • Carnot is a revolutionary startup pioneering the use of technical ceramics in the development of hydrogen combustion engines.
  • This technology has achieved approval in principle for a UK-flagged vessel and offers massive potential for reducing fuel consumption and costs.
  • After extensive design and simulations, the engine will be rigorously tested on a 40-day sea trial on Kimberly C, a 6,805-dwt cargo ship.
  • This ground-breaking technology has been the result of years of hard work and dedication from all involved and deserves recognition for pushing boundaries in maritime engineering.
