On January 23, a cement tanker reportedly ran aground on Westerschelde at Valkenisse and asked for help to be refloated.
What happened?
The cement tanker ‘Rozengracht’ reportedly ran aground on the Westerschelde at Valkenisse. The reason for the vessel running aground remains unknown as of now.
The captain of the tanker raised a distress call and the Rijkswaterstaat reportedly deployed a patrol boat ‘RWS 79’ to the site and was also attended to by a ‘P 41’.
Vessel refloated
With the assistance of the patrol boats, the tanker was able to refloat with its own power when there was a high tide and is currently berthed in Hansweert.
