What’s hot?
Central Shipping Group, controlled by Greek shipowner Evangelos Pistiolis, is reportedly shifting its investment interest to new suezmax tankers, after an eight-year lull.
Which vessels?
Two vessels are on order by Central at the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) shipyards, with an option for another two.
The price tags accompanying the new vessels, according to estimates amounts to less than 60 million USD per ship.
The first of the two newly built tankers is expected to be delivered in mid 2019.
What does this imply?
According to shipping analysts, the delivery date for these new orders is scheduled only after 2020.
This indeed shows that Central shipping group’s recent order looks at buying out a contract that HHI had with another shipping company.
