Chimbusco Pan Nation Pioneers B30-MGO Supply, Advancing Sustainable Marine Fuels

Chimbusco Pan Nation (CPN), a leading bunker supplier, announced on July 11, 2025, that it has completed the “first-ever delivery” of B30-Marine Gasoil (B30-MGO) in Hong Kong. This milestone marks a significant step for the company in advancing its sustainable marine fuels supply and reinforces Hong Kong’s growing role as a green bunkering hub in East Asia.

First B30-MGO Supply to OOCL in Hong Kong

On July 11, CPN successfully delivered a B30-MGO (30% biodiesel, 70% Marine Gas Oil) blend to Taiwan-headquartered Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) in Hong Kong. This marks the first time OOCL has received this specific fuel blend in the region. In a testament to CPN’s operational capabilities, this delivery was conducted simultaneously with a supply of B30-High Sulphur Marine Fuel Oil (B30-HSFO).

CPN asserts its position as the first bunker supplier in the region capable of providing all grades of ISCC-EU Certified marine biofuel, encompassing both marine fuel and gas oil blends. This certification underscores adherence to the EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED III) criteria for sustainability and greenhouse gas emission reduction.

Advancing Hong Kong’s Green Bunkering Ambitions

CPN’s recent achievements align with Hong Kong’s strategic vision for its maritime sector. In June, CPN signed an agreement with the Transport and Logistics Bureau (TLB) of the Hong Kong government to establish the Special Administrative Region as a global hub for green marine fuel bunkering and trading. This partnership supports the government’s Action Plan on Green Maritime Fuel Bunkering, launched in November 2024, which aims to build a robust green marine fuel bunkering supply chain by integrating mainland China’s production capabilities with Hong Kong’s international trading gateway.

Beyond biofuels, CPN is actively exploring and pioneering the use of methanol as a sustainable bunkering fuel. This commitment is further solidified by an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas), signed in November 2024, to jointly explore methanol as a viable marine fuel. These collaborations reinforce CPN’s leadership in driving the maritime industry toward the International Maritime Organization (IMO) net-zero emissions target.
