China Regains Top Shipbuilding Spot from S. Korea in March

China regained the top spot in shipbuilding orders in March, beating archrival South Korea and with 39% of the global orders, reports Xinde Marine News.

According to data released by Clarkson on Friday, China ranks first in the world with a market share of 39% (950,000 CGTs). South Korean shipping companies received 800,000 CGTs of orders in March, ranking second in the world with a market share of 33%.

By contrast, last month (February), Korea clinched orders totaling 1.56 million CGTs, or 74% of the global orders. That is nine times larger than China, winning orders for 170,000 CGTs.
