China Shipping & Sinopec Suppliers Co Ltd has marked a milestone by completing the first ship-to-ship methanol bunkering operation in China, and the first of its kind along the Yangtze River, as reported by Manifold Times.

On 6 September, China Shipping & Sinopec Suppliers Co Ltd, in partnership with SIPG Energy (Shanghai) Co Ltd, supplied more than 2,000 metric tonnes of methanol fuel to the 20,000 TEU ultra-large dual-fuel container ship COSCO Shipping Libra at the Changxing Island Base Terminal of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry in Shanghai. The vessel, recently retrofitted to run on methanol marine fuel, underscores progress toward cleaner energy use in China’s shipping sector and supports the green transition of the Shanghai International Shipping Centre. The company noted it will continue investing in infrastructure and collaborate with industry partners to establish a safe, stable, and sustainable marine energy supply system.
