Yantian Port has achieved a significant milestone when it became the first port in China to achieve simultaneous LNG bunkering operations of two ships, reports Manifold Times.

Significant milestone achieved

Bunkering vessels Xin Ao Pu Tuo Hao and Hai Yang Shi You 301 performed bonded LNG bunkering operations on foreign ships at berths 9 and 16 of Yantian International Container Terminal respectively.

The ships refuelled containerships Zim Coral and Damietta Express with a total of about 10,000 cubic metres (m3) of LNG bunker fuel.

In November 2022, Yantian Port completed the first LNG bunkering of an international ship in Shenzhen, becoming the fourth port in the world and the first port in South China with the ability to simultaneously perform terminal loading and unloading and LNG bunkering.

Yantian Port has carried out 30 ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operations and completed nearly 140,000 cubic metres of LNG refuelling. Among them, from January 2024 to date, Yantian Port has completed 88,000 cubic metres of LNG fuel refuelling, and the total refuelling volume has exceeded the whole year of 2023.
