Lemissoler Navigation Ltd. and Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI), have gained AiP from the American Bureau of Shipping for their innovative design of a 65K DWT methanol-powered Ultramax bulk carrier. 2050 from the industry itself.

Advancing Sustainable Shipping with Methanol

This design has been accepted by the International Maritime Organization as it investigates using methanol fuel to help speed up carbon emissions reductions in line with their targets of achieving a net-zero impact from shipping by 2050. The green methanol combustion on the vessel complies with EU ETS and FuelEU directives, demonstrating possible savings connected to carbon footprint. The initial EEDI is above Phase 3 standards, which shows the dedication to sustainability and decarbonization.

Industry Collaboration Driving Technological Innovation

Lemissoler Navigation Ltd., SDARI, and ABS have collaboratively initiated this ground-breaking design of vessels powered by methanol fueled underlines the power of collective success. The optimized and thoroughly revised design demonstrates a commitment to comply with future maritime regulations and is an important milestone on the way towards Lemissoler’s target of zero emissions by 2045.
