Chinese Mini-Bulker Sinks Near Wuhan Port

A Chinese bulker sank off Wuhan Port while undergoing a loading operation.  The vessel’s middle part suffered extensive damage during the operation and it sank off the Port along the Yangtze River on Friday.  Three crew members who were onboard managed to escape from the vessel.

The sunken bulker, E Tuan Feng Huo 226  (1,600 dwt, built  1999 ) blocked the navigation channel.  Ferry services from Wuhan has been suspended since then.

The maritime safety authorities have started investigating the incident.  They have also started salvaging  the vessel in order to restore ferry service.
