ClassNK has released a new white paper entitled ‘Pathway to Zero-Emission in International Shipping – Understanding the 2023 IMO GHG Strategy‘.
In a statement issued, ClassNK said that it has published the white paper to ‘encourage broad discussions among stakeholders and accelerate efforts toward decarbonisation’.
Furthermore, ClassNK said that while the IMO’s revised GHG strategy adopted at MEPC 80 strategy sets numerical targets for reducing GHG emissions as well as indicative checkpoints, the classification society believed that ‘the maritime industry has not yet reached a common understanding of what these numerical targets mean for international shipping’.
